Heard Sri Virendra Singh, counsel for the petitioners and the learned standing counsel.

The instant writ petition has been filed, seeking a writ of mandamus, commanding respondent no.1 / Addl. Commissioner (Administration), Varanasi to decide Revision No.31/324 of 2016, bearing Computerized No. C20171400106 of 2016 (Shiv Devi and Another vs. Savitri Devi and Others), within the stipulated time.

I have perused the records. The revision under Section 219 of the U.P. Land Revenue Act was filed by the petitioners before respondent no. 1. The copy of the order-sheet, Annexure - 3 to the petition, demonstrates that revision is not proceeding expeditiously.

In view of the facts and circumstances, this petition is disposed of with the direction to respondent no.1 / Addl. Commissioner (Administration), Varanasi to decide the aforesaid proceedings to its logical conclusion, as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of 4 months, from the date of production of a certified copy of this order before the authority concerned.

It is made clear that authority concerned would not grant unnecessary adjournments, adjournments if any, shall be for strong and compelling reasons, else would attract exemplary cost.

Learned counsel for the petitioners undertakes not to seek any frivolous adjournment before the authority concerned.
