Heard learned counsel for the petitioner and Shri Satendra Pratap Singh, learned Standing Counsel appearing for the State.

This petition has been filed with the following prayer:

"(i) Issue a writ, order or direction that this Hon'ble Court may graciously be pleased to allow this application and direct the District Magistrate District Ghaziabad to decide the arm license application, expeditiously if possible within stipulated. period.

(ii) Issue a writ order or direction in the nature of mandamus commanding the respondents authorities to grant arms license to the petitioner as per the provisions of Arms Act 1959."

The contention of the learned counsel for the petitioner is that the application for arms license was filed on 18.8.2019 but it has yet not been decided. Learned counsel states that the petitioner fears for the safety of his life and it is necessary that arms license be granted to him. It is stated that various FIRs has also been lodged against unknown persons who tried to kill the petitioner.

Considering the averments made in the writ petition, the District Magistrate, Ghaziabad is directed to take a decision on the application of the petitioner expeditiously and preferably within a period of six months from the date of filing of a copy of this order before him.

With the aforesaid observation, this petition is disposed of.
