The petitioner in the writ petition is seeking a direction in the nature of mandamus to the respondent no. 2, Regional Passport Officer, Lucknow to issue ordinary passport in the name of the petitioner in exercise of power under Section 5 of the Passport Act, 1967.
According to the petitioner, he had submitted his application form for grant of a passport on 20.7.2018, copy of which has been at page 25, annexure-1 to the writ petition, but till date he has not received his passport.
No useful purpose would be served by keeping this writ petition pending.
The writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondent no. 2, Regional Passport Officer, Lucknow to examine the matter and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law within a period of two months from the date of receipt of a certified copy of this order in his office. If there is no legal impediment in the grant of Passport he shall also grant the passport to the petitioner within the same period.
