WPCRL No. 812 of 2026, decided 04.05.2026 by Rakesh Thapliyal, J.: Petitioners Saniya D/o Riyasat and Arif S/o Hamida, both stated to be major, who married with each other on 02.05.2026 (marriage certificate, Aadhar card and school leaving certificate placed on record), sought adequate protection against a threat perception from respondent nos. 4 to 6, the father and brothers of petitioner no. 1. Learned State counsel did not dispute the age or the marriage, the documents having been annexed. The Court held both petitioners are major and married without coercion, and that where a threat perception exists from private respondents the local administration should assess it and take appropriate steps.
