This criminal petition is filed under Section 482 Cr.P.C. seeking to quash the proceedings in Cr.No.264/2016 on the file of Police Station Ramachandrapuram, Medak District, registered against the petitioners for the offence punishable under Sections 498(A) IPC and Sections 3 and 4 of Dowry Prohibition Act.
Heard the learned counsel for the petitioners and the learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the State.
A perusal of the complaint reveals that specific allegations were made against the petitioners. This is a matter, which requires investigation by the police. The truth or otherwise of the allegations can only be decided during course of investigation or trial. I see no ground to interdict the investigation at this stage and quash the first information report.
In the facts and circumstances of the case and as requested by the learned counsel for the petitioner, the criminal petition is disposed of, directing the investigating agency to proceed with the investigation and complete the same within a period of three months from today, however, without insisting upon the presence of the petitioners, unless required for any specific purpose of investigation.
Miscellaneous petitions pending if any, shall stand closed. No costs.
