Through the medium of this writ petition, the petitioner, A.P. Forest Maistries Union, East Godavari District, assailed the action of the respondent authorities in not issuing a final notification for revision of the minimum rates of wages for employment in Forestry and Timbering Operations, specified in Part-II of the Schedule appended to the Minimum Wages Act, 1948.

It was the case of the petitioner Union that the draft notification in this regard was issued in G.O.Rt.No.2147, Labour, Employment, Training and Factories (LAB.II) Department, dated 15.09.1995. A consequential direction was sought to the respondents to issue a final notification and pay the differential amounts with interest.

By interim order dated 14.02.2001, this Court took note of the fact that the draft notification had been issued as long back as in the year 1995 and directed the respondent authorities to consider issuing the final notification within a period of ten days from the date of receipt of a copy of the order.

Alleging non-compliance with this order, Contempt Case No.473 of 2001 came to be filed. Even before the institution of the contempt case on 12.04.2001, the final notification was issued vide

G.O.Ms.No.26, Labour, Employment, Training and Factories (LAB-II) Department, dated 03.04.2001 and the same was also published in the A.P. Gazette Part-II Extraordinary No.178 dated 04.05.2001. In view of the belated compliance with the direction of this Court, the Contempt Case was dismissed by order dated 26.07.2001.

In view of the aforestated developments, the prayer in the writ petition with regard to issuance of the final notification no longer survives. The writ petition is accordingly dismissed. No costs.
