This writ petition is filed alleging harassment by respondent Nos. 2 and 3. In particular it is alleged that on 28-11-2006 the police officials under the control of respondent Nos. 2 and 3 came to the petitioners’ residence, apprehended the members of the family, took them to the police station, beat them and asked the members of the family to produce the first petitioner’s husband and also harassed them with a view to elicit information as to certain stolen property. Despite the denial by the petitioners it is alleged, the police beat the first petitioner’s minor son and threatened to involve them in criminal cases.
Learned Government Pleader for Home has obtained instructions from respondent Nos. 2 and 3 and stated at the Bar on the basis of such instructions that the respondent Nos. 2 and 3 have never gone to the petitioners’ house, called them to the police station or harassed or beat them. There is no averment in rebuttal of this information procured from respondent Nos. 2 and 3. The petitioners do not also intend to procure any independent evidence to substantiate their allegations in this writ petition.
In the circumstances, there are no merits. The writ petition is
dismissed. No costs.
