The disputes inter se the parties were referred to the Arbitrator vide order dated 22.12.2020. On account of COVID 19 pandemic, the Arbitrator could not make an award within the stipulated period and the parties could not even agree for any extended period.
In view of the above, the Arbitrator informed the parties that as the arbitration could not progress due to COVID 19 pandemic, they may request the Court for extension of the period for making the award.
In view of the above information/request made on behalf of the Arbitrator vide letter dated 15th March, 2022, the petitioner has moved this application under section 29A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 for extending the time for giving the award.

In view of the undisputed position that the arbitration could not proceed on account of COVID 19 pandemic, in the interest of justice, the period for making the award by the Arbitrator is extended by a period of six months from today.
The application is allowed accordingly.
