The petitioners are residents of village Marwa Khurd, Tehsil Bilaspur, District Yamuna Nagar. They seek a mandamus to direct the Gram Panchayat and other authorities to demarcate the land comprising khewat numbers, fully detailed in the head-note of the writ petition.

The above-stated relief has been sought on the premise that some residents of the village have encroached upon the land comprising Johar (pond) and the Gram Panchayat is taking no action to get the land demarcated or for eviction of the alleged encroachers. The petitioners moved an application for the aforesaid purpose to the authorities but finding no response thereto, have filed this writ petition.

Having heard learned counsel for the petitioners and considering the nature of relief sought in this writ petition, we dispose of the same with a direction to
