The petitioner submits that vide circular dated 7.1.2014 (Annexure P-3), the Registrar, Cooperative Societies, U.T. Chandigarh, informed the Estate Officer, Chandigarh that revision of rate for conversion under the Scheme known as 'Conversion of Residential Lease-hold Land Tenure into

Freehold Land Tenure Rules, 1996', is under consideration of the Administration and that no conversion be allowed under the aforesaid Scheme till further orders. The petitioner's grievance is that more than five months have passed after passing of the aforesaid order but no decision with regard to revision of conversion charges has been taken by the Administration and as a result thereto, the applications for conversion are not being entertained or decided.

Having heard learned counsel for the parties and considering the fact that the respondent-authorities are required to take a decision regarding rate(s) of conversion charges within a reasonable period, we dispose of this writ petition without expressing any views on merits, with a direction to the respondents to take an appropriate decision in this regard as early as possible but not later than four months from the date of receiving a certified copy of this order.
