Geeta and Anr. Vs State of Punjab & Ors.

Learned counsel for the petitioners has limited his prayer for taking appropriate action in accordance with law on the representation dated 25.07.2014 (Annexure P-5) made by the petitioners. It has been stated that year of birth of petitioner No.1-Geeta is 1987 as per Annexure P-1 and date of birth of petitioner No.2-Gurvinder Singh is 13.06.1989 as per Annexure P-2. They got married on 25.07.2014. Photographs of marriage are Annexure P-4.

In view of the limited prayer made by the learned counsel for the petitioners and without going into the merits of the claim raised, this petition is disposed of with direction to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Sangrur to look into the representation dated 25.07.2014 (Annexure P-5) and take appropriate action in accordance with law, on receipt of certified copy of this order.

However, it is made clear that this order will have no effect on the validity of alleged marriage of the petitioners or on any other civil or criminal

proceedings instituted against them.
