Norti Ram Vs State of Haryana and Ors.

The petitioner prays for issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to consider his case for purchase of land in his possession, under Rule 12(4) of the Punjab Village Common Lands (Regulation) Rules, 1964, (hereinafter referred to as the '1964 Rules').

Counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner has filed an application under Rule 12(4) of the 1964 Rules, which has not been decided by Deputy Commissioner, Karnal, till date.

Counsel for the State of Haryana as well as the Gram Panchayat submit that as the matter is pending consideration before the Deputy Commissioner, Karnal, a final decision in the matter will be taken within a fixed period of time.

In view of the statement made by counsel for the respondents, the writ petition is disposed of by directing the Deputy Commissioner, Karnal, to take final decision in the matter, in accordance with law, within three months from the date of receipt of certified copy of the order.
