The present petition under Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure has been filed for quashing the FIR No.174 dated 14.6.2008 (Annexure P-1), registered under Sections 406, 498-A of the Indian Penal Code, at Police Station Basti Jodhewal, District Ludhiana and subsequent proceedings arising therefrom, on the basis of the compromise reached between the parties.

Complainant duly identified by his counsel is present in person. He admits the factum of compromise Annexure P-2 and states that he has no objection, if the FIR in question is quashed. She further

states that now she is residing with her husband happily.

In view of the above, this Court is of the opinion that no useful purpose would be served in continuing the proceedings. Accordingly, this petition is allowed and FIR No.174 dated 14.6.2008 (Annexure P-1), registered under Sections 406, 498-A of the Indian Penal Code, at Police Station Basti Jodhewal, District Ludhiana and all consequential proceedings arising therefrom are hereby quashed qua the petitioners.

However, it is made clear that if the compromise arrived at between the parties is not honoured, the aggrieved party shall be at liberty to revive the present petition.
