Khushboo and Ors. Vs State of Punjab and Ors.

Prayer in the present petition filed under Section 482 Cr.P.C. is for the issuance of a direction to respondents No.2 and 3 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners from respondents No.4 to 11. The petitioners assert that they are major and as there is no legal impediment, they have got married. They have already moved a representation dated 21.4.2013 (Annexure P-5) before respondent No.2 – Senior Superintendent of Police, Fazilka for protecting their life and liberty. Petitioner no.2, present in Court, to show his bona fide, has brought an FDR in the sum of Rs.49,000/for a period of five years in favour of petitioner no.1.

Without commenting on the legality or validity of the marriage, the instant petition is being disposed of by giving liberty to the petitioners to approach respondent No.2 - Senior Superintendent of Police, Fazilka for protection, as per instructions dated 18.8.2010 issued by the Home Department, Punjab. Petitioners may not be arrested and adequate security be provided to them, if required.
