Instant petition has been filed seeking protection of life and liberty of the petitioners from respondent Nos. 4 to 9. The petitioners assert that they are major and as there is no legal impediment, they have got married. They have already moved a representation dated 26.03.2013 (Annexure P/5) to respondent No.2 – Senior Superintendent of Police, Sri Muktsar Sahib, for protecting their life and liberty.

On 02.04.2013, the following order was passed by this Court:- “Learned counsel for the petitioners contends that the petitioners seek protection of their life and liberty at the hands of respondent Nos. 4 to 9. Petitioner No.2, present in

Court, to show his bona fide, states that he will deposit a sum of Rs.50,000/- in the form of FDRs for a period of three years in favour of petitioner no.1. Learned counsel for the petitioners further states that a number of persons are present inside and outside the Court who may cause harm to the petitioners. Keeping in view this fact, this Court deems it appropriate that petitioner no.1 should be sent to Nari Niketan at Chandigarh and petitioner no.2 to the Protection Home at Chandigarh. Ordered accordingly.

At this stage, Shri S.K. Arya, Advocate, appears on behalf of respondents No.4 to 9.

In the meantime, respondents No. 4 to 9 may file their reply.

On the last date of hearing i.e. 08.04.2013, petitioner no.2 had produced copy of FDR in a sum of Rs.50,000/- for three years in favour of petitioner no.1.

Keeping in view the above, the instant petition is disposed of and liberty is granted to the petitioners to approach respondent no.2 – Senior Superintendent of Police, Sri Muktsar Sahib, for protection, as per instructions dated 18.08.2010 issued by the Home Department, Punjab. Petitioners may not be arrested and adequate security be provided to them,

Nari Niketan, Chandigarh and Protection Home, Chandigarh authorities are directed to release petitioner no.1 and 2 from Nari Niketan and Protection Home, respectively.
