Present appeal is directed against the order dated 17.6.2008 passed by the authority under Payment of Wages Act.
Learned counsel for the appellant contends that authority has not awarded adequate compensation on account of harassment caused to the workman. Plea has been resisted by learned State counsel. He submits that prayer of workman for payment of wages from 17.8.2005 till 6.12.2006 has been accepted. He has also been granted interest @12% per annum and costs of Rs.2,000/-. Thus, appeal is without any merit.
I have heard learned counsel for the parties.
Applicant filed petition under the provisions of Payment of Wages Act claiming that he was employed as pump operator with the respondents. He was entitled to the wages for the period from 17.8.2005 till 6.12.2006. Notice of application was issued to the respondents. After

examining evidence, authority came to the conclusion that there was merit in the plea of workman and granted wages for the period from 17.8.2005 till 6.12.2006. Interest was also awarded. I find no merit in the plea that some additional amount ought to have been granted on account of harassment caused to the workman.
Appeal is without any merit and is hereby dismissed.
