Shalinder Singh and Others Vs Union of India and Others

In this writ petition, it is grievance of the petitioner that the grants received under various schemes of the Union of India, meant for the benefit of the farmers, are being misused by the dealers in connivance with the government officials. Prayer has been made that an independent inquiry be instituted in this matter.

During arguments, it is transpired that the petitioners have sent a legal notice on 31.5.2012 (P3) (colly), seeking redressal of their grievance which is still pending decision before respondent No.3.

Under the circumstances, we dispose of this writ petition by issuing directions to the Principal Secretary, Department of Agriculture, State of Punjab to decide the legal notice dated 31.5.2012 sent by the petitioners. It is made clear that when deciding above notice, an opportunity of hearing be given to a representative of the petitioners. The needful shall be done within three months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. It is further clarified that in case it is found that some bungling has been done in disbursement of the central grants, action be taken as per law.
