Afraid of breaking of the relationship, the complainant, though not in a position to fulfill the demand, gave a Platina motorcycle, two gold rings and various other items by way of shagun. After the marriage was settled to take place on 13.11.2011, the intention of the petitioner and others to get more dowry became clear. Now, they had started demanding a car. The complainant told them that he was not in a position to give car on which Pawan Kumar, the petitioner, his father and mother became adamant and told the complainant plainly that if car was not given in the dowry, they will not accept this relationship. The complainant then demanded back the articles already given to them, but the said articles were not returned. On 7.11.2011, would be father-inlaw of Pooja came to the village of the complainant and reiterated the demand of the car and had threatened of snapping the relationship if the same was not given. Even panchayat was convened in the village, but the would be in-laws did not agree to accept the relationship without giving of car.
