Heard learned counsel for the parties.
The petitioner seeks regular bail in a case registered against him for the offences under Sections 409 and 420 Indian Penal Code.
The petitioner is serving as a Secretary in the Sailkiana Cooperative Agricultural Multipurpose Society at Salkiana, Tehsil Phillaur, District Jallandhar ('Society'-for short). FIR No.62 dated 23.04.2010 (Annexure P-7) in the case has been registered on the complaint of Jarnail Singh Gill, who is President of the Society. It is alleged by the complainant that Surjit Singh (petitioner) worked as Secretary of the Society from 28.3.2009 to 5.12.2009. During this period he embezzled an amount of Rs.26,47,190.75/- (Rupees Twenty Six Lacs Forty-Seven Thousand One Hundred and Ninety and Seventy Five Paisa only) of the Society and he has misappropriated other material of the Society as well. On 3.01.2010 Inspector Narinder Flara visited the Society and inspected the record and material and it was found that Surjeet Singh had embezzled various amounts as are detailed. The embezzlements in all were detected of an amount of Rs.26,47,190.75/-.
