This petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India has been filed praying for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing the respondents to give relief to the petitioners in terms of judgment rendered by this Court in CWP 15554 of 2007 decided on 21.7.2008 (Gian Chand and others v. State of Punjab and others). Vide the said judgment, Circular dated 29.7.2003 (Annexure P-6) has been quashed.

Learned counsel for the petitioners contends that persons, such as the petitioners, who retired in between the period 31.7.2003 to 31.10.2006 have been put at a disadvantage, on account of provision of different commutation of pension para meters.
Learned counsel for the petitioners contends that the issue is also covered by a subsequent judgment of this Court dated 30.3.2009 rendered in CWP 7446 of 2008 (Sohan Singh v. The state of Punjab and another), placed on record as Annexure P-10.
Learned counsel for the respondent-State contends that let the matter be decided in terms of the judgment in Sohan Singh's case (supra).
In view of the conceded position, this petition is disposed of in terms of order passed by this Court in CWP 7446 of 2008 (Sohan Singh v. The state of Punjab and another) decided on 30.3.2009.
No costs.
