The petitioner, who has applied for the post of Junior Accountant, as advertised by the Chandigarh State Cooperative Bank Ltd., Chandigarh – respondent No.2, vide advertisement Annexure P-1, has filed the instant petition for issuing direction to the respondent bank to consider him eligible for the post of Junior Accountant. The representation filed by the petitioner in this regard has been rejected by the respondent bank on the ground that he is not possessing the requisite qualification. In the advertisement, the following qualifications were prescribed for the post of Junior Accountant :
Graduate - 1st Division in any discipline (60% marks) or Post Graduate - 2nd Division (50% marks) and 50% marks in Graduation, working knowledge

Admittedly, the petitioner is not Graduate with 1st Division (60% marks). He secured 56.7% marks in Graduation. It is the case of the petitioner that he falls under clause 2nd . As far as this clause is concerned, the petitioner does not possess the Post Graduation Degree with 50% marks. The contention of learned counsel for the petitioner that a Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications should be taken as a Post Graduate Degree cannot be accepted, because Post Graduate Diploma cannot be equated with the Post Graduate Degree.
No merit.
Dismissed.
