petitioner no.1 and at the time of such marriage, cash of Rs.1,50,000/- was paid along with gold ornaments and other articles as dowry. After marriage however, his niece was subjected to physical and mental torture by her in-laws including her husband in connection with their demand for further dowry. On 18.09.2018 at about 1.30 p.m. the informant received information regarding death of his niece and accordingly they rushed to her matrimonial house where they found her dead. Though it was stated that she had hanged herself, the informant lodged FIR alleging that the petitioners had committed her murder. Upon completion of investigation, charge sheet was submitted against the petitioners. But subsequently, the matter appears to have been compromised between the parties, inasmuch as the informant filed an affidavit stating therein that because of misunderstanding he had lodged the FIR, but subsequently the matter has been amicably settled since his niece was found to have committed suicide by hanging herself from a fan after closing the door and therefore, he does not wish to proceed against the accused persons in the case.
