This Original Application under Sections 14 and 15 of National Green Tribunal Act, 2010 (hereinafter referred to as ‘NGT Act, 2010’ ) has been registered in exercise of suo-moto jurisdiction on a letter petitions dated 11.09.2023 sent by citizens of Ameenpur district Sangareddy State of of Telangana, led by Prakashuppaluri.

Complaint is that there is a dump yard located within residential zone comprising more than ten houses and approximate population is forty thousand, which is causing of noxious odour, dust and water pollution. It is also contaminating groundwater affecting health of local people for the last three months Hundreds of cases of dengue, malaria and typhoid have been reported in the area concerned and has also

resulted in two fatalities. Proper guidelines for selection of dump yard have not been followed and it is also not being maintained in accordance with relevant rules, that is Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016.

In our view, complaint made in this letter petition at the first instance may be looked into by the local authorities including Statutory Regulator and therefore, we constitute a Joint Committee comprising Telangana State Pollution Control Board, Central Pollution Control Board and DM, Sangareddy.

Telangana State Pollution Control Board shall be the Nodal Agency for co-ordination and compliance of this order.

Aforesaid Committee shall visit the site, collect relevant information and if finds any violation in operation of said dump yard, shall take appropriate remedial, punitive and prohibitive action against violator(s) in accordance with law within two months and submit a Compliance Report with Registrar Southern Zone Bench, Chennai of this Tribunal, if Registrar finds necessary, place the matter before Bench, for any further order.

With the above directions, this Original Application is disposed of.
