Heard Mr.S.Arunachalam, learned Counsel for the Petitioner and Mr.P.F.Ferlin Castro, learned Counsel, who takes notice for the Respondent.

This Writ Petition has been filed for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to pay the petitioner interest at the rate of 6% per annum in paying the amounts paid towards the terminal benefits payable for the services of her deceased husband/employee (Late) M.Janarthanan, Staff No.DR52428, namely EPF Employee's Contribution and Gratuity for the period of delay from 22.08.2025 to 10.03.2026 and Encashment of leave payable for the period of delay from 22.08.2025 to 19.03.2026, without affecting the right to claim balance amounts towards those benefits.

With the consent of both sides, this writ petition is disposed of at the admission stage.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner's husband, M.Janarthanan, Staff No.DR52428, who was working in the respondent Corporation, died on 21.08.2025 while in

service. The respondent paid only the principal amounts towards the terminal benefits. However, it failed to calculate and pay the interest for the period of delay in disbursing the said benefits. Though the petitioner submitted a representation dated 02.06.2026 requesting the respondent to pay the interest for the delayed payment, no response was evoked. Hence, she has approached this Court by filing the present Writ Petition.

Learned counsel on either side unanimously agree that the issue involved in this writ petition is squarely covered by various Judgments passed by the Division Bench of this Court in W.A.(MD) No.403 of 2010 and batch, dated 07.04.2014 and W.A.(MD) No.1419 of 2021 and batch, dated 26.07.2021.

In the said circumstances, this Writ Petition is allowed and the respondent is directed to pay interest at the rate of 6% per annum

for the belated payment of the petitioner's deceased husband/employee (Late) M.Janarthanan, Staff No.DR52428, towards terminal benefits for the period of delay from 22.08.2025 to 10.03.2026 and Encashment of leave payable for the period of delay from 22.08.2025 to 19.03.2026. The respondent is further directed to comply with the said direction as expeditiously as possible, at any
