This writ petition has been filed for a direction, directing the respondents to conduct an enquiry on the petitioners application submitted on 25.02.2026 under the compensation to victims of hit and Run Motor Accidents

Scheme, 2022, and consequently sanction and disburse the compensation payable under the said Scheme to the petitioner.

It is the case of the petitioner that the petitioner's husband met with an

accident in a hit and run motor accident on 08.03.2024 and succumbed to injuries on 12.03.2024. Case was registered in Cr.No.241 of 2024 and despite investigation, the offending vehicle could not be identified or traced and therefore, case squarely falls within the ambit of a hit and run motor accident under the Compensation to Victims of Hit and Run Motor Accidents Scheme, 2022. The petitioner submitted application on 25.02.2026 along with requisite documents before the second respondent, however, the same is pending without consideration. Hence, this writ petition.

Heard both sides and perused the materials placed on record.

Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court without

going into the merits of the case directs the second respondent to consider the application of the petitioner dated 25.02.2026 and forward the same to the first respondent for passing appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law.

Such exercise shall be completed within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this Order.
