Madras High Court (L. Victoria Gowri, J.), 13-05-2026 - Writ Petition No.19318 of 2026: Three petitioners sought a writ of mandamus under Article 226 of the Constitution of India directing the Regional Transport Officer, Salem East, Salem District to receive the application dated 05.05.2026 submitted in Form CCPA with the prescribed fee for grant of an auto rickshaw permit to operate within a radius of 30 kilometers from the limits of Salem Corporation, Salem District, and to pass appropriate orders within a time frame. The learned Special Government Pleader for the respondent submitted that the application could be appreciated only if made online. Accordingly, the Court directed the petitioner to submit the Form CCPA through online, and directed the respondent, on receipt of the online application, to consider it and pass appropriate orders within four (4) weeks. The ancillary W.M.P.No.20574 of 2026 seeking permission to file a single writ petition was ordered subject to payment of separate Court fee.
