ORDER

(1) The above writ petition is filed by the petitioner for a writ of mandamus to direct the respondents 1 and 3 to consider the petitioner’s claim dated 25.01.2023, for medical reimbursement of the medical expenses to the tune of Rs.3,05,000/- and to reimburse the said sum to the petitioner.

(2) Mr.K.Purushothaman, learned Standing counsel accepts notice on behalf of the respondents 1 and 4.

(3) With the consent of the learned counsels on either side, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal.

(4) The case of the petitioner in brief is that, while he was on duty on 11.12.2022, he climbed the power post for repair and maintenance and accidentally, he fell down from the pole due to electric shock and he sustained injuries on his right hand. The petitioner further states that he was admitted in Bone Joint Neuro and Trauma Centre at Kanchipuram for treatment and thereafter, he was admitted in APJ Multi Speciality Hospital at Walajahbath, for further treatment. The petitioner incurred a total medical expense of Rs.3,05,000/-. He submitted an application

dated 25.01.2023 to the 4^th respondent, for reimbursement of medical expenses along with necessary documents. The petitioner’s application was forwarded to the 3^rd respondent, who in turn, returned the application to the petitioner for want of the TNNHIS ID Card/Annexure Form and the Original Discharge Summary. The petitioner submitted that he has been made to run from pillar to post right from 2023 for the reimbursement of the medical expenses and having left with no other option, he had approached this Court by filing the above writ petition for the aforesaid relief.

(5) Heard both sides and perused the materials placed on record.

(6) Though the petitioner has prayed for a larger relief, this Court, considering the facts and circumstances of the case and without going into the merits of the petitioner’s claim, directs the respondents to consider the claim of the petitioner dated 25.01.2023, on merits and in accordance with law and pass appropriate orders within a period of three weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
