The petitioner, who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on

04.06.2026 for the alleged offences under Sections 111, 115(2), 118(1), 296(b) and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, in Crime No.140 of 2026 on the file of the respondent police, seeks bail.

It is the case of the prosecution that a road rage incident escalated into

a wordy altercation, during which the petitioner attacked the defacto complainant and caused grievous injuries. Hence, the case

The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the petitioner is innocent and has been falsely implicated in this case. He would further submit that the petitioner has been in custody since 04.06.2026 and that, in any event, his further custody is not required for the purpose of investigation. Hence, he prayed for grant of bail.

The learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) appearing for the respondent police, while opposing the grant of bail, reiterated the prosecution case and, on instructions, submitted that the petitioner has six previous cases, including two murder cases, two theft cases and two other cases, and that he is a history-sheeter. It was further submitted that the investigation is still pending and that, if the petitioner is enlarged on bail, there is every possibility of his tampering with witnesses.

petitioner, this Court is of the view that it would not be appropriate to grant bail to the petitioner at this stage.
