This Criminal Original Petition has been filed seeking direction to

the third respondent, not to harass the petitioners under the guise of an inquiry.

2. When the matter came up for hearing, the learned counsel for the

Government of Tamil Nadu appearing for the respondents 1 & 2, submitted that a petition is currently pending for inquiry, which pertains to offences relating to an immovable property. He further submitted that a preliminary inquiry is being conducted to ascertain whether any congnizable offence is made out against the petitioners.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioners submitted that the petitioners have recently received another summons directing them to appear before the respondent Police on 05.07.2026.

4. In view of the rival submissions made on either side, this Criminal

Original Petition is ordered on the following terms:-

a. The petitioners shall appear before the respondent Police on 05.07.2026.

¶33

b. The respondent Police shall conduct and complete the inquiry on the same day. In the event the inquiry cannot be completed on 05.07.2026, it shall be positively concluded within one additional working day thereafter.

c. The preliminary inquiry shall be concluded expeditiously, and further legal steps may be taken strictly in accordance with the outcome of the said inquiry.
