The public interest litigation is filed to name a particular street as 'Golden Cross Street'.

2.This Court is not inclined to entertain the public interest

litigation for issuing a writ of mandamus for the purpose of naming a street. The Tamil Nadu Urban Local Bodies Act is very clear and specific regarding naming of a street and any such request must emanate from the local governing body by way of resolution. If the petitioner makes appropriate request to the local body and if they pass any resolution regarding naming of the street, then only, the fourth

respondent being Commissioner of Corporation, shall take decision regarding naming a street. Therefore, the writ petition stands dismissed. It is for the petitioner to work out his remedy in the manner contemplated under the statute. No costs.
