PRAYER: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents 1 to 8 herein to ensure that the festival of Arulmighu Perayira Moorthy Ayyanar Thirukoil, Iraachikulam Village is being conducted on the last Friday of Tamil Vaigasi month this year (12.06.2025 and 13.06.2025) strictly in accordance with the religious practice and honour recognized by the third respondent in her order dated 22.02.2024 in O.A.No.7 of 2019 and affirmed in the following orders and proceedings:-

This Writ Petition will be rendered infructuous on 13.06.2025 [tomorrow],

as the relief sought in this Writ Petition is for a Mandamus to direct the respondents 1 to 8 to ensure that the temple festival of Arulmigu Perayira Moorthy Thirukoil, Iraachikulam Village, is conducted strictly in accordance with the religious practice, as per the past practice on 12.06.2025 [today] and 13.06.2025 [tomorrow].

2 . There is no representation on behalf of the 9 th respondent.

3 . The learned Government Advocate (Criminal side) for the respondents 2, 6, and 7 submits that 60 police personnel will be deployed in and around the temple to ensure that the temple festival is conducted in an orderly manner. The said statement is recorded.

4 . Since the temple festival has to be conducted, there shall be a direction to the official respondents, particularly the H.R. & C.E. Department, to ensure that the temple festival is conducted in an orderly manner as per the past practice, without giving any room for untoward incidents. If required, the assistance of the respondents 4 to 7 may be sought by the H.R. & C.E. Department.

5 . With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed.
