This writ petition has been filed seeking for a mandamus directing

the Respondents 1 to 4 to issue patta to the petitioner for his lands in i) S.No. 247/1 - 0.15.5 ares ii) S.No.247/3 - 0.24.5 ares iii) S.No.247/4 - 0.20.0 ares iv) S.No.248/5 - 0.27.0 ares comprised in Thondarayanpadi Village, (previously Thanjavur Taluk), Budalur Taluk, Thanjavur District.

2 .By consent of both parties, considering the limited relief sought

for by the petitioner, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.

3.Heard, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents. Perused the materials on record.

4.The petitioner claims to be a lawful owner of the aforesaid properties and hence, he is entitled to get patta under the Patta Pass Book Act,

1986. But during the UDR Survey, the authorities wrongly entered the name of the 5 th respondent, who is the brother of the petitioner. In this regard, the petitioner had sent a representation to the respondents 1 to 4 to correct the mistake and grant him patta. As the authorities did not act based on the representation of the petitioner, this writ petition has been filed.

5.It is seen that based on the petitioner's representation, dated 23.06.2022, the 2^nd respondent sent a communication to the 3^rd respondent on 15.07.2022 to conduct enquiry and to send a report to the 2^nd respondent with a copy to the petitioner.

6.The learned counsel for the petitioner therefore states that the proceedings have already been initiated and it would suffice if a direction is issued to the 3^rd respondent to expedite the proceedings.

7.In view of the limited prayer of the petitioner, a direction is issued to the 3^rd respondent to expedite the proceedings and pass final orders at the earliest.
