This writ petition has been filed in the nature of Writ of Mandamus, seeking a direction to the respondents, particularly the 2^nd respondent to release the vehicle of the petitioner bearing Reg.No.TN-39-BK-5837, which is the Bolero Pick Up vehicle.

2.The petitioner had given a representation on 20.07.2022 to the 2^nd respondent. The petitioner vehicle was seized by the 2^nd respondent on the allegation that about 1150 Kg of rice meant for public distribution was being transported in the said vehicle of the petitioner.

3.In this connection, I am informed that proceedings are now pending under Section 6 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, before the District Revenue Officer, Dharmapuri.

4.Therefore, a direction is given to the petitioner to appear before the

District Revenue Officer, Dharmapuri District on 03.01.2023 between 11.00 a.m and 2.00 p.m and present necessary records and the 1^st respondent / District Revenue Officer, Dharmapuri, is directed to take a decision with respect to the release of the vehicle after following necessary provisions of law, but at any rate, take a decision on or before 20.01.2023, relating to the limited issue of the release of the vehicle of the petitioner.

5.With the above observations, this Writ Petition stands disposed of.
