This writ petition is filed seeking to direct the respondents to provide water connections to the petitioners herein.

When the case was taken up, the learned Government Advocate submitted that the third respondent Thirumuruganpoondi Panchayat has been upgraded as Thirumuruganpoondi Municipality and as such, there is no proposal to provide individual water connections to every households and further submitted that there is a water connection available in the street for

the public purposes and the same may be utilised.

Such view of the matter, this Court is of the view when there is no proposal to provide individual water connections to every households, there cannot be any blanket directions from this Court. However, it is made clear that when the Thirumuruganpoondi Municipality resorts to provide individual water connections to every households, the petitioner's application is to be considered on priority.

With the above directions, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
