With the consent on either side, the Writ Petition itself is taken up for final disposal.

2.Heard Mr.M.Selvakumar, petitioner appearing as party-inperson and Mr.A.K.Manickam, learned Standing Counsel for Government appearing for respondents 3 to 5.

3.The petitioner appearing in person seeks for issuance of Writ of Mandamus, to direct the respondents to pay interim Solatium of Rs.10,000/- per month to the family of folk artists and make arrangements to evenly distribute Rs.1,000/- to each of the artists by conducting a survey and identifying them and issuing identity cards and also to take appropriate steps to enroll the Tamil Cultural Artists under the Scheme “Rastriya Sanskriti Kala Yojana”, so as to enable them to get certain benefits and concession from the Ministry of Indian Culture.

4.The petitioner has focused the plight of the folk artists during pandemic, as they are unable to come out of their respective houses and perform cultural shows. The representation given by the petitioner has been taken note of by the third respondent and has been forwarded to the Director of Art and Culture Department for necessary action and it appears that the matter is now pending before the said authority.

5.In the light of the same, we direct the Director of Art and Culture Department to take note of the representation of the petitioner forwarded by the third respondent vide letter dated 03.06.2020 and examine the matter and if any data is required, the same may be collected in an appropriate manner and necessary inputs may be placed before the third respondent. If, in the opinion of the third respondent, the matter can be recommended to the Central Government for necessary relief, the same shall be done by the third respondent.

6.It is submitted by the learned Government Counsel that so far as the State Government is concerned, apart from giving hampers containing essential articles, Rs.4,000/- has been given to the individuals as a measure of relief to them during the lockdown.

7.With the above direction, the Writ Petition stands disposed of. However, there shall be no order as to costs.
