This habeas corpus petition has been filed seeking to direct the respondents to produce the body or person of the petitioner's son S.Sathish, aged about 22 years, before this Court and set him at liberty.

It is the case of the petitioner that her son S.Sathish, aged about 22 years, went missing from 25.12.2020 and that the police are not taking effective steps to secure him.

Today, Mr.P.Pandurangan, Sub-Inspector of Police, E-8, Kelambakkam Police Station, Chengalpattu, is present.

On instructions, the learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that on a complaint given by the petitioner, a case in Kelambakkam Police Station Crime No.3690 of 2020 for 'man missing' was registered and the investigation is in progress. He further submitted that the enquires conducted so far revealed that Sathish (detenu) was addicted to drugs as he was not happy with the moral conduct of his mother.

In view of the above, this habeas corpus petition is closed with a direction to the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mamallapuram, to monitor the investigation in Kelambakkam Police Station Crime No.3690 of 2020 and keep the petitioner informed of the developments, if any. As and when the detenu S.Sathish, aged about 22 years, is secured, he may be produced before the Judicial Magistrate Court No.I, Chengalpattu, under intimation to the petitioner.
