degree from the respondent university on 22.12.2009 as Velayutham. Though the petitioner changed his name as Velayudham, all his school and college records stood in the name as Thanneermalai. Before he could change his name in all previous records, he got job based on the under-graduation degree in Engineering i.e., B.E. (EEE), which stood in his old name Thanneermalai. Presently, the petitioner has been working for the past five years as Thanneermalai. Though he has changed his name as Velayutham, he was never identified so neither in the society nor in his family and friends circle. Hence, he preferred an application for change of his name as Thanneermalai in Government Gazette and got published on 11.11.2015. Thereafter, the petitioner sent a representation dated 27.11.2015 to the respondent university requesting them to reissue MBA Degree in his present name as Thanneermalai and to carry out the same in university records. But, the respondent sent a letter dated 9.12.2015 stating that the change of name can be allowed only during the period of study. Hence, the petitioner has come up with the present writ petition challenging the proceedings of the respondent dated 9.12.2015 and consequently, to direct the respondent to re-issue the MBA Degree in petitioner's present name as I.Thanneermalai and consequently, direct the respondent to carry out the same in University records.
