PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for the issue of a Writ of Mandamus directing the second respondent to consider the petitioner's education loan application dated 29.12.2011 and to sanction the education loan in favour of the petitioner.

This Writ Petition at the instance of a student seeks a Writ of Mandamus directing the Branch Manager, Canara Bank, Gnanaolipuram Branch, Madurai, to consider his application dated 29.12.2011 for educational loan and disburse the same at the earliest.

The petitioner was admitted in B.E., Course at St.Michael College of Engineering and Technology. The college is affiliated to the Anna University. The petitioner submitted an application for educational loan before the second respondent on 29.12.2011. The bank appears to have kept the matter pending. This made the petitioner to file this Writ Petition.

I have heard the learned counsel for the petitioner, learned Standing Counsel for the respondents 1 and 2 and the learned Standing https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/ Counsel for the third respondent.

The second respondent is directed to consider and dispose of the

application submitted by the petitioner dated 29.12.2011, on merits and as per law and in the light of the guidelines framed by the Indian Banks' Association. Such exercise shall be completed within a period of fifteen days from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
