JUDGMENT

The petitioner is stated to be in possession of a double barrel gun No. 8262, for which Exhibit P1 licence was issued by the Additional District Magistrate, Kalpetta, Wayanad, respondent No.2, during the year 1996 and the licence is being renewed periodically and it is valid upto 02.02.2023.

The grievance highlighted by the petitioner is that even though he has submitted Exhibit P4 application dated 28.11.2022 seeking renewal of the licence, no action is taken by the second respondent to finalise the proceedings. It is, thus, seeking appropriate directions, this writ petition is filed.

I have heard the learned counsel for the petitioner Sri. M. C. John and the learned Senior Government Pleader Smt. Deepa N., and perused the pleadings and materials on record.

Since the application is pending before the statutory authority, I think, it is only appropriate that the application is directed to be disposed of within a time frame. The learned counsel for the

petitioner submitted that a direction may be issued to consider the application before 03.02.2023.

At that point of time, the learned Senior Government Pleader submitted that the second respondent has sought for reports from various statutory authorities and in order to process and dispose of the application, two months’ time is required.

Taking into account the facts and circumstances, there will be a direction to the second respondent to finalise the application after securing reports from all concerned at the earliest and at any rate within a month from the date of receipt of a copy of this judgment.

This writ petition is disposed of as above.
