JUDGMENT

The grievance of the petitioner in the writ petition concerns the inaction on the part of the second respondent in deleting the name of the third respondent, the former wife of the petitioner from the particulars of the spouse shown in his passport.

The learned Assistant Solicitor General of India, on instructions, submits that the petitioner has not preferred an application for the said purpose and if the petitioner prefers an application for the said purpose, the same will be considered and appropriate orders will be issued in accordance with the Notification, GSR 1171(E) dated 23.12.2016 issued by the Central Government.

In the light of the submission made by the learned Assistant Solicitor General, the writ petition is disposed of directing that if the petitioner prefers an

application for deletion of the name of the third respondent from his passport within two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this judgment, the same shall be considered by the second respondent within two weeks thereafter, in accordance with the Notification referred to by the learned Assistant Solicitor General.
