JUDGMENT

The petitioner is a holder of passport bearing No.H 1438390. His date of birth is wrongly entered as 5/4/1979 . The correct date of birth is 5/4/1981. He relied on Ext.P2 The petitioner approached the passport authorities for correcting his date of birth in the passport. The passport authorities rejected the petitioner's request. Hence, the petitioner approached this Court.

A statement has been filed by learned Assistant

Solicitor General. He submits that Ext.P2 document relied on by the petitioner was in his possession at the time of applying for the passport. The petitioner has to explain the reason for non production of the above document at the time of applying for the original passport.

In view of the above, the petitioner shall file an affidavit stating reasons for non production of the document now relied

on by him for correcting the date of birth. On being satisfied about the genuineness of the petitioner's claim, the passport Authority shall correct the date of birth of the petitioner in the passport in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this judgment.
