JUDGMENT

The petitioners are working as Assistant Superintendents under the second respondent. They were promoted to the said post on 2.1.2009, as per Ext.P7. As per the proviso to Rule 28(a) of Part II of the Kerala State and Subordinate Services Rules, the period of probation shall be one year on duty within a continuous period of two years. According to the petitioners, despite the expiry of the said period, their probation has not been declared and in the meanwhile steps are being taken to effect promotion to the post of Deputy Superintendents under the second respondent. The petitioners have, therefore, submitted Exts.P8 and P9 representations respectively before the second respondent.

Admittedly, to redress the grievance raised in this Writ Petition, the petitioners have already approached the second respondent as per Exts.P8 and P9 representations, but till date, no decision has been taken thereon by the second respondent. In the circumstances, there will be a

direction to the second respondent to consider and pass orders on Exts.P8 and P9 representations as expeditiously as possible, at any rate within a
