The petitioner has lodged the FIR alleging that the cheque belonging to the petitioner was stolen and by manipulating the amount stating in the cheque was presented to the Bank for realization and the same was dishonored. The respondent No.1 herein has filed a private complaint under Section 200 of Cr.PC for the offence punishable under Section 138 of N I Act. He submits that though the learned Magistrate referred the complaint to the police for investigation under Section 156(3) on 22.6.2022, the police have not taken any effective steps to conclude the investigation.

The learned High Court Government Pleader for the respondent No.2 - State on instructions submits that final report will be submitted within three months from today. Therefore, it is expedient to dispose of the petition directing the respondent No.2 to conclude the investigation in Crime No.121/2022 within three months from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order and submit final report before the learned Magistrate.
