19/ 28.01.2026 The petitioner, in the purported public interest, was challenging the extension granted to the Managing Directors, Executive Directors, Directors of all State Electricity Companies (PSUs). However, it was found that none of the parties, whose services were extended, were impleaded as respondent in this petition.

Therefore, on 16.01.2026, we had adjourned the matter to enable the learned counsel for the petitioner to consider his position.

Today, Mr. Raj, learned counsel for the petitioner, on instruction from the petitioner, seeks leave to withdraw this petition with liberty to file appropriate proceedings before the appropriate Forum, if the petitioner’s grievance still survives.

Accordingly, we grant leave with liberty, as prayed for.

This petition is disposed of, with liberty, as prayed for. All contentions of all parties are, however, left open, because we have not examined the matter of extension on merits. Pending I.As. stand disposed of.
