On application of the appellant, Mr. Balwant Singh Thakur, Advocate, was appointed as Legal-Aid Counsel and after obtaining the documents and completing other formalities, he had filed present appeal on 16.9.2024.

It has been further submitted by Mr. Balwant Singh Thakur, Advocate, that in between, appellant himself engaged a counsel Mr. Kulwant Singh Gill, Advocate and before filing the present appeal, Mr. Kulwant Singh Gill, Advocate has filed criminal appeal on behalf of appellant on 20.8.2024, which has been registered as Criminal Appeal No. 549 of 2024.

It has been further submitted by Mr. Balwant Singh Thakur, Advocate that now appellant has instructed him that he would like to continue the appeal preferred through Mr. Kulwant Singh Gill, Advocate and therefore, he seeks permission to withdraw the present appeal. Otherwise also, present appeal has been filed later in time and as appellant has engaged a counsel himself, there is no necessity to continue Mr. Balwant Singh Thakur, Advocate, as legal-aid counsel for the appellant.

Accordingly, the present appeal is dismissed as withdrawn in view of filing of another Criminal Appeal No. 549 of 2024 and Mr. Balwant Singh Thakur, Advocate is discharged from acting as Legal-Aid counsel for appellant.

Appeal stands disposed of.
