Petitioner approached this Court assailing order dated 10.4.2017, passed by the All India Council of Technical Education (in short, ‘AICTE’), whereby petitioners’ application for extension of approval for academic session 2017-18 for undertaking courses in the subject of Civil Engineering was declined.

Notice in the petition was issued on 29.4.2017, whereafter, premises of petitioners’ institution were inspected by various Committees. Last such inspection took place by the Committee headed by a retired Judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court, duly constituted by the AICTE.

Today, Mr. Vijay Arora, learned Advocate, has placed on record report of inspection carried out on 25.9.2017. Noticeably, the Committee found only four deficiencies, out of which, deficiency pertaining to inadequate faculty in many branches like computer, civil and electrical engineering etc. only is worth taking note of. Mr. Arjun Lal, learned Advocate, points out that said deficiency is frivolous inasmuch as that no student is undertaking course in the branch of Information Technology. In any event, steps are being taken for having adequate teaching faculty even in these branches and needful shall be positively done within a period of two weeks from today.

We dispose of the present petition with the following directions;

(a) within two weeks from today, petitioners shall ensure that adequate faculty is made available with the petitioner-institution;

¶14

(b) immediately thereafter, respondent-AICTE shall issue letter of approval for academic session 2017-18, and;

¶15

(c) with the fulfillment of all the requirements, respondent No.3 shall take all consequential resultant action of registration and conducting examinations of the students.
