Mr. S.M.T. Chistie, learned counsel for the respondents, has placed before this Court, a copy of the communication, dated, 02.05.2024, received by him from the Joint Secretary to the Government of Assam, Department of School Education, to the Accountant General, Assam, wherein, it has been stated that the Governor of Assam has granted sanction for creation of a supernumerary post of Assistant Director(Planning & Coordination) in the Elementary

Education Department, Government of Assam, for the period w.e.f. 28.03.2003 to 20.01.2006, in respect of the petitioner.
It is contended that the directions as passed by this Court for promotion to the petitioner against the said post, is now concluded and the arrears of pay that would now accrued to the petitioner, would be released to the petitioner shortly.
Mr. B. Borah, learned counsel for the petitioner, submits that the steps as taken by the respondents, herein, is in satisfaction of the directions passed by this Court and accordingly, he also submits that the contempt petition need not be pursued any further.
Accordingly, in view of the communication, dated 02.05.2024; the instant contempt petition stands closed.
The copy of the communication, dated 02.05.2024, is kept as a part of the record and marked as ‘X’ for identification.
