Heard Mr. B. Koushik, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr. P.S. Deka appears on behalf of the respondent No.1 and Mr. B. Deuri appears on behalf of respondent Nos.2 and 3.

The grievances of the petitioners in the instant proceedings is that the petitioners have approached the concerned respondent authorities for conversion of the Annual Patta Land to Periodic Patta but the respondent

authorities since the year 2015 in spite of receiving their application and subsequently, being represented time and again, the said respondent authorities have not taken any action for which the petitioners have approached this Court under Article 226 of the Constitution of India.

The petitioners have applied for conversion of their respective plots of land from Annual Pattas to Periodic Pattas by following the procedure prescribed and by submitting all necessary available documents.

In this regard, it is relevant to mention the various dates when the petitioners herein filed their respective applications.

The said applications have been pending before the respondent authorities since more than six years and the said respondent authorities have not taken any action in spite of the request made by the petitioner time and again.

Taking into consideration the Land Policy of the Govt. of Assam in the year 1989 as well as the Land Policy of Assam 2019, whereby it has been decided that the Annual Patta Land should be converted to Periodic Patta Land, it would be in the interest of justice and accordingly the instant petition is disposed of with a direction to the concerned respondent authorities to take appropriate steps in terms with their Land Policy in respect to the applications filed by the petitioners for conversation of their Annual Patta Lands to Periodic Pattas within a period of six months from the date a certified copy of the instant order is
