Heard Mr. J Kalita, learned counsel for the petitioner. Also heard Mr. RR Gogoi, learned counsel for the respondents No.1, 3 and 4 being the authorities under the Forest Department of the Government of Assam and Ms. S Baruah, learned counsel for the respondents No.2 and 5.

The father of the petitioner Naren Kalita, who was employed as Office Peon in the office of the Divisional Forest Officer, Central Assam Afforestation Division, Hojai, Nagaon, Assam died in harness on 24.01.2016. On his death, the petitioner submitted an application for compassionate appointment on 15.02.2016.

The limited grievance of the petitioner is that the said application of the petitioner was not given a consideration by the DLC concerned.

Considering the limited grievance raised, we dispose of the writ petition directing the Divisional Forest Officer, Central Assam Afforestation Division,

Hojai, Nagaon, Assam to place the application of the petitioner for compassionate appointment before the next available DLC of Hojai district.

In the event, the application of the petitioner was given a consideration earlier, the results thereof be communicated to the petitioner.
