By way of the present petition, the Petitioners seek quashing of FIR No. 124/2011 , registered at Police Station Sultan Puri, New Delhi, for the offences punishable under Sections 498A/406/34 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (hereinafter referred to as the ‘IPC’ ) and all consequential proceedings emanating therefrom on the basis of the settlement arrived at between the parties.

Learned APP for the State submits that earlier the FIR was partially quashed only against the husband and the father-in-law and now the motherin-law (Petitioner no.1) and brother-in-law (Petitioner no.2) of the complainant are seeking the quashing as the matter has been settled between the parties.

5. Brief facts of the case are that the marriage between the husband and Respondent No. 2 was solemnized on 06.02.2010 at Delhi in accordance with Hindu rites and ceremonies. Owing to matrimonial disputes and differences, the parties started living separately, and on the complaint of Respondent No. 2, the present FIR came to be registered against the Petitioners. 6. Thereafter, with the intervention of the Delhi Mediation Centre, Rohini District Courts, Delhi, the parties amicably resolved all their disputes by way of a Settlement Agreement dated 08.05.2026. It is further submitted that the marriage between the husband and Respondent No. 2 already stood dissolved by a decree of divorce dated 22.04.2013 passed by the learned Judge, Family Court-03, Rohini Courts.

On a query made by this Court, Respondent No.2, who has been duly identified by the IO, categorically states that she has entered into the settlement out of her own free will, without any force, coercion or undue influ ence. She has no objection if the present FIR and all proceedings emanating therefrom are quashed.

In view of the above, that the parties have amicably resolved their differences out of their own free will, and without any coercion, no useful purpose will be served by continuing the proceedings, rather the same would create further acrimony between them. It would thus be in interest of justice
